About the name April8 [April eight] is the date on which I signed my first contract as an independent brand and communications specialist. It hence has a very strong significance to me since I always wanted to have my own brand communications agency and be independent.
When looking at April meaning and symbolism, I found out that April is derived from the latin word aperit, which means to open. April is the month when trees and flowers begin to “open”. As for the number eight "8", it is a power of two, being two cubed; a lucky number in Chinese because it sounds like the word that means to generate wealth. Eight is considered a lucky number in Japan too and gives an idea of growing prosperous, because the letter broadens gradually. Last, eight is also the Infinity symbol. It all fit so well and the name I had chosen, April8, acquired even more sense. April, aprir or open just like when brand building and communications help a project, company, product in opening up and reaching out to the world. The number 8 helps clients grow, or the number 8 much like the numerous streams of communications (internal, external, digital, …). Just as in communications, the name April8 combines a word and a number, where we use words and numbers to convey a message. |
About the logo |
The color green was chosen to convey the idea of spring, freshness, hope that are all conveyed by the month of April. The logo plays on the idea of openness. "8" is not closed. More importantly, "8" was designed in the shape of a road, similar to the road we ride along with the client. There is a starting point and an end point.
